About
Tehseen Naqvi, MD, is a board-certified family practitioner with
Progressive Medical Care, which she founded in 2012. Her practice
Affiliated with Holy Cross Health Partners in 2022 to become Holy
Cross Health Partners Progressive Medical Care. As a family
practitioner, Dr. Naqvi treats patients from birth through older
adults, often treating entire families. She is also a specialist in
geriatric medicine. Throughout her 30 years in practice, she has
had specialized training in caring for patients of all ages.
Dr. Naqvi earned her medical degree in 1990 in Pakistan, where she
practiced as a pediatrician and neonatologist. After moving to the United
States in 1998, she earned a degree in family practice medicine from
Maine-Dartmouth Family Practice, Augusta, ME, and completed a geriatrics
fellowship at the Maine Medical Center, Portland, ME.
Seeing the coordinated care that her father needed in later life
inspired Dr. Naqvi to pursue training in geriatrics. She dedicates extra time
during initial visits with her older patients to understand their medical
problems and prioritize treatments. She also asks about their work, social
support systems and families, saying, “Knowing their past history and the kind
of support they have in their current relationships, helps me better treat my
patients. I also educate families about their loved one’s care to help them
understand about the process of aging.”
“Although I take care of them, I learn from them,” Dr. Naqvi says of
her patients. “It’s fascinating to hear their experiences and what they’ve been
through.”
In her spare time, Dr. Naqvi enjoys reading, cooking and traveling –
especially to the beach, which she misses from her time in Maine. She lives in
Olney with her husband, son and their cat, Chester.
