Holy Cross Health begins comprehensive renovation of Silver Spring emergency department

Silver Spring, Md. – (March 10, 2026) – Holy Cross Health, a part of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, today announced that a complete renovation of the emergency department (ED) at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring is now underway, marking a significant investment in patient care, safety and experience.
The renovation project is designed to modernize the ED to better meet the growing needs of the community. When completed, the updated space will feature:
- Efficient treatment areas to reduce wait times and improve patient flow
- Enhanced technology and equipment to support rapid diagnosis and treatment
- Comfort-focused design for patients and families during what can be stressful moments
- Intuitive wayfinding signage to make navigation of the ED space simple

While construction is underway, diligent measures are in place to minimize disruptions and maintain the highest standards of safety, cleanliness and care. Construction will occur in phases to ensure that emergency services remain fully operational throughout the project. Patients can continue to seek care at the ED as usual during the renovation period.
The project is expected to be completed in 2028 and is part of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic’s broader strategy to invest in infrastructure, technology and services that strengthen care delivery across the region.
