Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic appoints Dr. Joseph Teel president of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic Medical Group

NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. (September 8, 2026) – Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic is pleased to announce the appointment of Joseph Teel, MD, FAAFP, FACHE, as the new president of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic Medical Group, effective Sept. 8.

In this position, Teel will provide strategic leadership for Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic’s physician network, partnering with physicians, advanced practice providers and operational leaders to further strengthen clinical excellence, improve patient access and support the continued growth of the medical group in Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland.

Teel is an established physician executive with deep experience leading a large, multi-state primary care medical group. He has a proven track record of expanding patient access, improving financial performance, strengthening clinician retention and advancing value-based care.

Teel joins Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic from Penn Medicine in Philadelphia, where he most recently served as chief of regional primary care for the Penn Medicine Medical Group. Additionally, he served as advisory dean and professor of clinical family medicine and community health at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine.

After completing his undergraduate studies at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa., Teel earned his medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed residency at the Middlesex Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program in Middletown, Conn., serving as chief resident in his final year. After completing his training, he relocated to Lynchburg, Va., to fulfill his National Health Service Corps commitment at the Johnson Health Center, serving as medical director for the last two years. After his service, he moved back to Philadelphia to continue his medical career.
