Holy Cross Health receives $378,000 commitment from the Levin Family Foundation to advance lung cancer outreach and screening

SILVER SPRING, Md. (Sept. 17, 2026) — The Charles and Margaret Levin Family Foundation has made a $378,000 commitment to Holy Cross Health, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, to support community outreach efforts designed to increase awareness of lung cancer screening, build trust among high-risk populations and connect eligible individuals with potentially lifesaving screenings.

In recognition of the family’s longstanding commitment to early detection and screening programs at Holy Cross Health, the initiative will be known as the Charles and Margaret Levin Family Foundation Lung Screening Program. This support also allows Holy Cross Health to expand its annual community lung screening event at the Holy Cross Health Cancer Center, scheduled for Nov. 12, 2026, from 3 – 7 p.m. To learn more about the event, email denise.holford@holycrosshealth.org.

According to the American Cancer Society, lung cancer causes about 1 in 5 cancer deaths, claiming more lives than breast, prostate and colorectal cancers combined each year in the U.S.

“My family knows firsthand how profoundly a cancer diagnosis can affect an individual and their entire family,” said Abbe Levin, president, Levin Family Foundation. “We are fortunate to be able to support a program providing free lung cancer screenings which might help detect lung cancer earlier and maybe improve someone’s chance of successful treatment. Holy Cross Health’s Comprehensive Lung Cancer Program brings together specialists from multiple disciplines, including medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, thoracic surgeons, interventional pulmonologists, pulmonologists, pathologists and radiologists. Using state-of-the-art technology, the team provides personalized care tailored to each patient’s unique needs.
