(Silver Spring, Md.) – Holy Cross Hospital has tied for the highest ranking of any hospital in Montgomery County, Md., for 2019-20 by U.S. News & World Report. The annual national listing of 'America's Best Hospitals' ranks Holy Cross Hospital 10th (tied) overall in the Washington, D.C., region and 10th (tied) out of 67 hospitals evaluated in the state of Maryland.

Holy Cross Hospital, one of the largest hospitals in Maryland, is a leader in providing innovative and high-quality health care and has earned numerous awards, clinical designations and accreditations in a wide range of medical specialties.

"We are proud that Holy Cross Hospital is among the top hospitals in the state and Washington, D.C., region and leads the list of best hospitals in Montgomery County," said Louis Damiano, president, Holy Cross Hospital. "This recognition by U.S. News & World Report reflects the dedication of our physicians, nurses and staff to consistently meeting and exceeding standards of clinical care for the benefit of patients."

In U.S. News' 2019-20 'America's Best Hospitals' list, Holy Cross Hospital also received distinction as high-performing — the highest rating possible — in the adult procedures/conditions of congestive heart failure, colon cancer surgery and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). High-performing hospitals significantly exceed the national average and only 10 percent of hospitals nationwide — Holy Cross Hospital included — reached this standard.

To help patients decide where to receive care, U.S. News generates hospital rankings by evaluating data on nearly 5,000 hospitals in 16 adult medical specialties, 9 adult medical procedures or conditions and 10 pediatric specialties. Scores are based on several factors, including survival, patient safety, nurse staffing and more. Over the past 30 years, the Best Hospitals rankings have helped guide millions of patients and their families to high-quality hospital care when they need it most.
