Holy Cross Health Center in Gaithersburg

(Silver Spring, Md.) – Holy Cross Health is pleased to announce that the Holy Cross Health Center in Gaithersburg moved on March 20, 2019, to a new, larger space to better serve health center patients and their families. The new facility, located at 220 Perry Parkway in Gaithersburg, Md., is nearly double the size of the previous location, creating increased access and better care coordination for low-income adults who are enrolled in Medicaid or uninsured.

"Holy Cross Health is one of Montgomery County's largest safety-net providers and the only health system in the county to operate its own health centers to provide affordably priced health care to those in financial need," said Norvell Coots, MD, president and CEO, Holy Cross Health. "Each of our four health centers was opened with the guiding principle that all community members deserve access to high-quality health care, and throughout our history, Holy Cross Health has been committed to innovating and expanding resources to meet the complex health care needs of the diverse population we serve."

The Holy Cross Health Center in Gaithersburg originally opened in 2009 at 702 Russell Avenue, four years after Holy Cross Health established its first health center in Silver Spring in 2004. Today, the four Holy Cross Health Centers in Silver Spring, Gaithersburg, Aspen Hill (opened 2012), and Germantown (opened 2015) provide 40,000 patient visits each year to support the optimal health and well-being of area residents in need.

Holy Cross Health celebrated the opening of the expanded and relocated health center in Gaithersburg on April 5 and was joined by Gabe Albornoz, Montgomery County Council Member and chair of the Montgomery County Council Health and Human Services Committee, as well as Holy Cross Health board members, and health center physicians, clinicians and staff.

"This expanded space means greater access to high-quality primary care, improved communication and care coordination among the care team, and additional capacity for self-care education and programs," said Holy Cross Health Network President Annice Cody, during the dedication and open house. "Many of our patients have complex medical and socioeconomic needs, including diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia and a history of trauma. At our health centers we are caring for the whole person, not just their needs in the doctor's office."

Holy Cross Health Center services include primary care, preventive care, screenings, chronic disease management, behavioral health, health education and follow-up care for emergency room and hospital visits. Holy Cross Health is an owner of Maryland Physicians Care, a Medicaid managed care organization. Maryland Physicians Care is accepted at all Holy Cross Health Centers.
