The Pediatric Emergency Center is open 24 hours a day.

The Pediatric Emergency Center at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Md., is staffed with board-certified pediatricians and pediatric emergency medicine, with pediatric hospitalists and NICU doctors available for consults and admissions. Designed with families in mind, Iit is a child-friendly, separate dedicated space designed for the care of pediatric patients. It features private exam rooms, convenient bedside registration, onsite diagnostic tools—including X-rays, ultrasounds and CT scans—as well as a dedicated laboratory to get you the quick results you need.

We handle all types of emergencies, including medical, minor trauma and mental health. Common conditions we treat are:

  • Trouble breathing, asthma attacks and other respiratory problems
  • Abdominal pain, digestion problems, including vomiting and diarrhea that won’t go away
  • Broken bones, burns, cuts and other wounds
  • Concussions and severe headaches
  • Fever, especially in young infants or prolonged fever
  • Infections of the skin and soft tissue, throat, lungs or gastrointestinal tract
  • Allergic reactions
  • Seizures and change in mental status
  • Thoughts of hurt themselves or others

The Pediatric Emergency Center at Holy Cross Hospital is here to provide excellent care of your child. We will work with your primary pediatrician to be sure we get the treatment plan right, and when you leave should have a clear understanding of your child’s condition, as well as all necessary prescriptions and paperwork to ensure follow up.

For children who need additional care and hospitalization, we have a dedicated pediatric inpatient unit as well as a robust level III NICU.

Holy Cross Germantown Hospital also provides pediatric emergency care.
