Internships and Residency Programs


  • High-caliber education and training for new nurse graduates and experienced RNs through our nurse internship programs.
  • PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Programdesigned to help pharmacists transition from the role of student to the role of a general clinical pharmacy practitioner or to become well prepared to pursue a PGY-2 residency training in a focused area.
  • Holy Cross Health Network Internships, providing well-qualified undergraduate and graduate students with practical experience in community health, community care delivery and/or population health.  
  • Partnerships with area colleges and universities 

Specialized Training Programs


  • Physician residency programs affiliated with George Washington University, Children's National Health Systems and the National Capital Consortium, and training for medical students and physician assistant students from eight additional schools.
  • Home to the GATE Institute, a specialized training center for physicians who perform minimally invasive procedures
  • Partnerships with a dozen Schools of Nursing to provide clinical experiences for nursing students and train students in other health care professions
  • A sophisticated Holy Cross Health Conference Center, designed for clinicians and community members to acquire and share knowledge using state-of-the-art technology

Staff Professional Development


  • Internal opportunities for onsite and online training, including Healthstream, Holy Cross Health's learning system used to complete online courses or to register for classroom courses.
  • Spanish for Health Care Workers course
  • Orientation Programs - Comprehensive preparation for all those who join us
  • Role-specific, competency-based Nursing Orientation Programs

  • Introduction of Management Development and Mentor Programs
  • Tuition Assistance - Up to $3,000 for full-time employees per fiscal year toward approved educational courses, and up to $1,500 for eligible part-time employees
