Holy Cross Hospital was the first hospital in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties to receive this prestigious accreditation. Since 2000, Holy Cross Hospital has maintained a Comprehensive Community Cancer Program accreditation by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.
Certification from The Joint Commission for Hip Replacement, Knee Replacement and Spine Surgery. Holy Cross Hospital was the first hospital in Montgomery County to receive Spine Surgery Certification from The Joint Commission.
Cardiac Interventional Center designation for Holy Cross Hospital by the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS) to perform emergency angioplasty for acute heart attacks.

Neurosurgery
The neuroscience program at Holy Cross Hospital offers exceptional interdisciplinary care and advanced treatment to patients who require general neurosurgery, neuro-oncology care and minimally invasive treatments, including specialized procedures such as Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS).
Women's Surgery
- Gynecologic and Gynecologic Oncology Surgery – We are a regional leader in the treatment of medical problems requiring gynecologic surgery, and an innovator in minimally invasive and robotic-assisted gynecologic surgery. Our specialists perform more gynecologic and gynecologic oncology inpatient surgeries in Maryland than any other health system.
- Pelvic Floor Surgery – Our pelvic health program offers individualized treatment options focused on restoring function as well as quality of life. At Holy Cross Hospital and Holy Cross Germantown Hospital many of these procedures are minimally-invasive, using robotic-assisted surgery for a quicker recovery and excellent results.
- Breast Surgery - Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring was the first breast center in Montgomery County to be certified by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) and the American College of Surgeons. It also has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology.
Joint Repair & Replacement Surgery

Holy Cross Hospital and Holy Cross Germantown Hospital our physicians are experts in advanced, minimally invasive spine surgery and perform hundreds of spine-related orthopedic and neurosurgical procedures each year. General Surgery
- Weight-Loss Surgery - Holy Cross Hospital and Holy Cross Germantown Hospital's bariatric surgery program is accredited by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program as a Comprehensive Center. The program provides support and education before, during and after surgery, including support groups and exercise programs.
- Hernia Repair Surgery - At Holy Cross Germantown Hospital, our hernia specialists treat a range of initial, recurrent and complex hernias, using advanced, minimally-invasive surgical procedures to repair the abdominal wall.
- Digestive Health Disorders - Many of our digestive health surgeons perform advanced, minimally invasive surgeries, including robotic-assisted surgeries.
Thoracic Surgery
