Nehemiah Tabb

Touched by the story of a fellow church member who was uninsured and needed cancer care, Nehemiah Tabb, a resident of Germantown, MD, wanted to do something. “We’ve got to help people in our community and stand up for one another,” he says.

Nehemiah started thinking about creating an event—perhaps a charity run to benefit an institution with similar goals. When he learned about Holy Cross Health’s commitment to ensuring access to health care for all, regardless of a patient’s ability to pay, he knew he had found the right match.

“At Holy Cross, uninsured people can get the help they need and are never made to feel judged,” explains Nehemiah. Holy Cross Health’s financial assistance program offers free or discounted services to patients who qualify.

Nehemiah’s Building Block 5K, now in its fourth year, is held each October in Seneca Creek State Park in Gaithersburg to benefit patients at Holy Cross.

We’ve got to help people in our community and stand up for one another. At Holy Cross, uninsured people can get the help they need and are never made to feel judged.”
