Holy Cross Hospital is one of the largest hospitals in Maryland. Founded in 1963 by the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross, today Holy Cross Hospital is a 448-bed, 501(c)(3) not-for-profit teaching hospital.
Located in Silver Spring, Maryland, just north of Washington, D.C., and near the Capital Beltway and Metro, the hospital primarily serves residents of the state's two largest jurisdictions, Montgomery and Prince George's counties.
Holy Cross Hospital offers a full range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based health care services, with specialized expertise in women and infant services, senior services, surgery, neuroscience and cancer.
Specialists at the hospital deliver more babies and care for more newborns with complex medical issues than any other hospital in Maryland or the District of Columbia. The hospital addresses seniors' unique needs through the nation's first Seniors Emergency Center and a full range of specialized surgical and inpatient services, health-aging programs, home care and support services for caregivers.
With 1,200 affiliated physicians, Holy Cross Hospital's medical staff is one of the largest in the state. The hospital employs more than 3,200 people, including 1,000 nurses. It is the only one in Maryland to receive the Workplace Excellence Award from the Maryland Work-Life Alliance every year since 1999.
Holy Cross Hospital is a member of Trinity Health of Novi, Michigan, one of the largest health systems in the country, as well as the American Hospital Association, the Maryland Hospital Association, the Catholic Health Association and the Association of American Medical College's Council of Teaching Hospitals.
