Holy Cross Health’s Patient-Centered Labor and Delivery Services
We understand that the birth of a child is a natural process—and an exciting time for families. That’s why we put our patients’ unique needs and preferences first in all of Holy Cross Health's maternity services. We combine compassionate care with the most sophisticated monitoring equipment and pain management protocols to ensure your birthing experience is as comfortable as it is memorable.
The maternity teams at Holy Cross Hospital, and soon at Holy Cross Germantown Hospital (opening in October 2014), are birthing professionals who work hand-in-hand with you and your designated support person to help ensure a successful labor and delivery.
They are the experienced experts, who deliver more than 8,600 babies a year at Holy Cross Hospital—more than at any other birthing hospital in Maryland or the District of Columbia.
We support each woman’s personal labor choices, including natural childbirth, vaginal birth after cesarean section (VBAC), and the participation of doulas in your labor and delivery.
The 24 labor and delivery rooms at Holy Cross Hospital and the five labor and delivery rooms planned for Holy Cross Germantown Hospital are private, home-like environments, complete with cable television, private bathrooms and family zones with a sleeper sofa and other amenities.
Once you’ve given birth, you will recover in a spacious private post-partum maternity suite, equipped with a basinet to keep your newborn close by. Suites also feature comfortable furniture for visitors, muted colors and subdued lighting to promote rest and recuperation, as well as a private bathroom, cable television and free wireless internet access.
