Holy Cross Health Cancer Center

The Holy Cross Health Cancer Center is the
first in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area to offer the Varian Edge
radiosurgery system, a state-of-the-art technology that precisely targets
radiation to brain, lung and spine tumors and allows simultaneous treatment of
more areas.

The center’s experienced clinicians – including
board-certified radiation oncologists, physicists, dosimetrists, and radiation
therapists – work closely with the medical and surgical oncologists in Holy
Cross Health's Cancer Care program. The center is led by radiation oncologists
Sheela D. Modin, MD, and Rajal Patel, MD.

Holy Cross Health cares for more cancer
inpatients annually than any other hospital or health system in Montgomery and
Prince George’s counties. Holy Cross Health’s cancer program holds the
Radiation Oncology Practice accreditation for the Radiation Treatment Center by
the American College of Radiology and the Comprehensive Community Cancer
Program accreditation by the American Colleagues of Surgeons Commission on
Cancer since 2000.

The space for radiation treatment is triple the
size of the original center and is all above ground, with lots of windows to
bring in natural light to provide a soothing and healing experience for
patients.

Patients will be happy to learn that the
center’s new location in Wheaton has lots of free parking and is just across
the street from the Wheaton metro and bus terminal.
