What To Do When Labor Begins

Contact Your Physician
When your labor begins, notify your obstetrician.

Come to the Hospital Lobby
Enter the hospital through the main lobby anytime, day or night. Stop at the information desk to be directed to be directed to Holy Cross Hospital's third floor Labor and Delivery unit. You will use the elevators conveniently located in the lobby behind the blue tile art wall.

Leave your suitcase in the trunk of your vehicle until you have delivered your baby and you and your baby have settled into a recovery suite. Pack a small separate bag for items you will need in labor, such as a camera, socks, massage tools and a music device.

Patients and visitors who anticipate needing parking for an extended stay can purchase discounted parking passes from the cashier.

Triage
When you arrive in the Labor and Delivery unit, you will be greeted at the nursing station and taken into our triage area. There you will be prepped for delivery by a highly skilled team that will work every step of the way toward delivery of a healthy baby. Our unit includes 24 state-of-the-art labor and delivery rooms and is equipped for cesarean sections and high-risk births.

Private Maternity Suites
After the birth of your baby in a private labor, delivery and recovery room (LDR) , you and your baby will be taken to one of our private maternity suites to recover in a quiet and comfortable setting.

Throughout the process, we welcome the support of your friends and family. Learn more about maternity visitor guidelines.
