Virtual Visiting: Bringing Family and Friends Together Digitally!
When family and friends are far away from a senior who is hospitalized at Holy Cross Hospital, new hospital technology can bring them together face-to-face via Virtual Visiting. Today's latest hospital technology keeps patients and family linked across miles and generations.
The free service is one of our important hospital amenities for older patients aimed at improving their hospital experience. We understand that when hospital visitation isn’t possible because you’re far away from your loved ones, real-time, face-to-face visits via the Internet can reduce patient stress and help ease the minds of families caring for seniors.
Virtual visits can help ensure that you receive updates on treatment. And in certain emergencies, virtual visits can help families share in treatment decision making.
You or your loved one can request this special patient amenity, or a member of the care team can request a virtual visit. As a virtual visitor, you simply need a computer and Internet connection. A member of our care team will send you a password so that you can securely access the virtual visit. After logging-on, a digital web camera on the computer captures images and your visit gets underway. And virtual visiting is confidential and complies with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
