Breast Care

Screening for breast cancer by self-examination, physician examination, and mammography should be a regular part of every woman’s health care routine. Your physician can advise you on the best time—depending on your age - to begin annual or semi-annual mammograms and whether or not you have familial risk factors for breast cancer.

The Holy Cross OB/GYN Outpatient Clinics help all women, regardless of their ability to pay for the service, in scheduling mammograms.

At Holy Cross we use the most advanced technologies for performing and diagnosing breast biopsies, including the Mammotome©, a hand-held probe that performs biopsies with a minimal incision and maximum accuracy.

Our American College of Surgeons-accredited Cancer Care Program offers the area’s most highly specialized and sophisticated diagnosis and treatment of women’s cancers, available close to home.

Community health education programs provide support groups for patients with breast cancer and additional groups for their families and friends.
