Stroke Response Team
Holy Cross Hospital has brought together a multidisciplinary team of physician specialists, nurse practitioners and clinicians who are trained to manage patients with complex health issues.
The Stroke Response Team provides timely treatment to patients with stroke-like symptoms. The stroke team activation process ensures that staff who are vital to a stroke patient’s care are notified and immediately respond to the patient’s needs.
Neuroradiology expertise is available to neurologic clinicians 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including participation from experts through our Virtual Neuroradiology Consult Service.
A stroke patient may encounter more than eight specialists while in the hospital, including radiology, cardiology, neurology, occupational and speech therapy, and possibly more. Our specially trained acute care nurse practitioner for the stroke program helps to coordinate patient management through all of these different areas.
Essential to expert care for stroke patients are the Holy Cross Hospital hospitalists. These physicians often specialize in internal medicine and manage the care patients receive. Our hospitalists are based right here at Holy Cross Hospital and are on call 24 hours a day. Hospitalists are central to the program because they offer a great opportunity for consistency of care and processes.
