Holy Cross Pain Management Center
What to Expect on Your First Visit
At the Pain Management Center, in conjunction with you and your
physicians, an individual plan of treatment will be developed for
you. An initial history is taken by a nurse trained in the pain
management specialty. You will then be evaluated by an anesthesiologist,
board certified in pain medicine. The evaluation consists of review
of diagnostic studies, history and physical exam, review of previous
treatments, and medical records from prior physicians.
Your physician
will discuss your diagnosis and treatment options with you. Treatment
may begin on the first visit, depending on your plan of care.
What to Bring
On your first visit, please bring the following
with you:
- Reports of any X-rays, MRIs, CTs, or myelograms
done relating to your pain condition.
- A list of all medications
you are taking, dosages, and approximate amount of time you
have been taking them.
- If you have been seen by another pain specialist
for this condition, please have them forward copies of their
records.
It is important to let us know of any blood thinners you may be
taking. A list of medications you have tried as well as treatments
tried by other physicians for this condition, if any, would be
helpful. If you are being managed on opiods, you will not receive
prescriptions on the initial visit without records from the prescribing
physician.
