Breastfeeding is a natural process that provides many benefits to your newborn. However, you may need assistance getting started and figuring out how to continue.
While you are in the hospital, our nurses and certified lactation consultants will offer instruction on breastfeeding. Your nurse or a lactation consultant can help you with latching on and positioning, encouraging fussy and reluctant babies, and meeting you and your baby’s special needs.
When you return home, you can continue to receive breastfeeding support and supplies from our Outpatient Lactation Center. Our board-certified specialists can provide lactation consultation at your home or at the Lactation Center.
We also rent electric breast pumps and sell breastfeeding supplies, including bras. You may want to let your family know that our Lactation Center offers gift certificates that may be used to purchase some of our services.
The Lactation Center operates from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Holy Cross Hospital Resource Center at 9805 Dameron Drive in Silver Spring, one block from the hospital.
