Birth Doula Program:
Continuous Support for Women Giving Birth

Thank you for your interest in Holy Cross Hospital’s Birth Doula Program. Our birth doulas are proud to provide physical, emotional and informational support to mothers continuously during labor and delivery. Scientific studies have shown that birth doula support can contribute to:

• Decreased labor length for first births
• Decreased requests for pain medications
• Increased participation of fathers/partners in the birth experience
• Increased rates and duration of breast feeding

Birth Doula Program Registration
Registration with the Holy Cross Hospital Birth Doula Program ensures you the following services:

• A prenatal planning and information packet filled with valuable information about our doula services, exercises to help you identify your best ways of coping with labor, and instructions and a template for creating a labor coping plan.
• At our doula program open houses you can meet one-to-one with a Holy Cross birth doula. Attend as many open houses as you need and meet as many of our doulas as you like!
• 24-hour On-call Doula Coverage — A Holy Cross Birth Doula will be available to you 24 hours a day, available whenever you go into labor.
• Prenatal Doula Warm-Line — If you have any non-emergency questions, leave a message on the doula warm line and a doula will call you back within 24 hours.
• The doula you contact during early labor will be the doula who meets you at the hospital and provides continuous labor support until an hour or two after your baby is born.
• The postpartum packet you will receive contains a keepsake birth story for your baby from your doula and invaluable resources and information for new parents.

If you are interested in having the support of a Holy Cross Hospital Birth Doula at your birth, simply return a completed agreement and registration form, along with payment information, to the hospital at the address indicated on the registration form.

Birth Doula Program Open House Events
If you have any additional questions about our birth doula program, please attend an open house, held on the second Wednesday of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. or the third Saturday of each month from 2 to 4 p.m. The open houses take place in the Professional and Community Education Center on the first floor of Holy Cross Hospital.
