
These exercises are recommended for individuals preparing for total joint surgery. If you experience any difficulties while performing these exercises, please contact your physician.
Ankle Pumps
Point foot down and then up slowly. Do at least 10 to 30
repetitions each hour that you are awake. Make sure you perform this
exercise with both feet.

Quadriceps Sets
Press the back of your knee against the bed and hold
for three to five seconds then release. Work up to 12 to 15 repetitions
for every hour that you are awake.

Gluteal Sets
Squeeze your buttocks together tightly. Hold for five seconds
then relax. Do five to 10 repetitions for every hour you are awake.
