Epilepsy Monitoring Unit

Our Epilepsy Monitoring Unit features specialized brain-monitoring technologies to provide comprehensive and expert evaluation for seizure disorders in adults. Physicians with advanced training in epilepsy provide monitoring as well as medical and neurosurgical treatments.

Seeing the Brain
Physicians at Holy Cross Hospital can see the brain in astonishing detail using several painless imaging technologies, such as:

• Video EEG (electroencephalogram) monitoring simultaneously records a patient’s behavior and the brain’s electrical activity.
• Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) creates pictures of the inside of the body and brain.
• Positron emission tomography (PET) shows the brain’s chemical activity.
• The Wada test determines the location of speech areas and memory function in the brain.
