
The purpose of this program is to help people who are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes make lifestyle changes. Research has shown that losing weight and exercising most days of the week may prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, a serious medical condition that develops more frequently in this population.
Description
This is a 12-week course that includes nutritional
guidance for weight loss, exercise classes and provides long-term support
to maintain positive lifestyle changes.
Eligibility
This series of
classes is free to any individual who has at least three of the following
risk factors for diabetes and cardiovascular disease:
* Check with your doctor or attend a screening at Holy Cross Hospital to determine eligibility.
