Breast Cancer Diagnosis
Diagnosing and Treating Breast Cancer is Our Expertise
At Holy Cross Hospital, one of our tenets is that the sooner a woman
can return to her life and work, her family and friends, the sooner
she begins to heal. Our physicians are highly skilled in minimally
invasive surgeries and techniques that involve shorter hospital stays
and quicker recoveries. This specialized training offers women the
options they deserve and allows them to make smarter choices about
their health care.
Breast Center
Holy Cross Hospital’s Breast Center features:
- Diagnostic Mammography – An X-ray of the breast used to diagnose
unusual breast changes, such as a lump, pain, nipple thickening or
discharge, or a change in breast size or shape. A diagnostic mammogram
is also used to evaluate abnormalities detected on a screening mammogram.
- Mammotome© – A biopsy technique that is faster, more accurate,
and less invasive than the traditional breast biopsy.
- Computer-aided detection (CAD) software – An interpretive tool
that assists radiologists in the most accurate reading of mammograms.
Using sophisticated pattern recognition, CAD indicates areas for re-evaluation,
enhancing early detection.
