Complementary Therapies
Complementary Therapies
Holy Cross Hospital initiated or expanded several efforts this year designed to distract patients from pain, illness, or depression and otherwise improve comfort. On a daily basis, representatives from Smith Farm Center for the Healing Arts help both inpatients and outpatients through storytelling, creative writing, movement, music, and other activities.
Friendly, four-legged ambassadors from the new pet therapy program visit patients, visitors, and staff at least once a week. And most recently, local stained-glass artist Micki Fuller began making butterfly ornaments to give hope to breast cancer patients and raise money for the hospital’s Cancer Institute, all in memory of her daughter, Karen, who died from the disease several years ago.
