Study Title:
GOG-0218 A Phase III Trial of Carboplatin and Paclitaxel Plus Placebo Versus Carboplatin and Paclitaxel Plus Concurrent Bevacizumab (NSC #704865, IND #7921) Followed by Placebo, Versus Carboplatin and Paclitaxel Plus Concurrent and Extended  Bevacizumab, in Women with Newly Diagnosed, Previously Untreated, STAGE III OR IV, Epithelial Ovarian or Primary Peritoneal Cancer

What is the purpose of this study?
The purpose of this study is to evaluate new treatment regimens for stage III and stage IV ovarian cancer.

Am I a candidate for this study?

  • Were you diagnosed with stage III or IV ovarian cancer? 
  • Are you otherwise generally healthy?
  • Have you had surgery to remove the cancer?
  • Are you 18 years or older? 

What do I need to do?

  • Provide a medical and surgical history.
  • Agree to clinical examinations that include vital signs, laboratory tests (urine, blood).
  • Agree to be randomized (like a coin toss) to a particular treatment regimen. 
  • Agree to receive chemotherapy.
  • Agree to receive a drug that is FDA approved for colon cancer, but not yet for ovarian cancer.

Why should I participate?

  • Your participation can make a difference in the way ovarian cancer is being treated. 
  • You may receive the best possible treatment.
  • There is medical need for additional treatments for stage III and IV ovarian cancer.
