Cancer Research Studies
Treatment: Lung Cancer

Study Title:
MAGRIT 109493: A double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled Phase III study to assess the efficacy of recMAGE-A3 + AS15 Antigen-Specific Cancer Immunotherapeutic as adjuvant therapy in patients with resectable MAGE-A3-positive Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

What is the purpose of this study?
The purpose of this study is to determine whether adding a vaccine to boost immune response in conjunction with chemotherapy and surgery will prove to be clinically effective (resulting in disease free survival) in patients diagnosed with lung cancer.

Am I a candidate for this study?

  • Do you have a stage IB through IIIA lung cancer that has been surgically removed?
  • Can you perform most or all of your activities of daily living?

What do I have to do?

  • Agree to have a sample of lung tissue tested for a particular protein. If your tissue is positive you may be eligible for the study.
  • Agree to have blood drawn.
  • Agree to undergo CT scan every 6 months, periodic chest x-rays, and physical exams.
  • Receive a vaccine several times throughout the study.
  • Agree to be contacted by the research staff for up to 5 years after beginning the study.

Why should I participate?

  • Currently, chemotherapy is the standard treatment for stage II and III lung cancers.
  • Many patients receiving chemotherapy will relapse.
  • There is a medical need for additional treatments for stage IB to IIIA lung cancers.
  • This vaccine has demonstrated effectiveness in earlier studies and may prolong disease free survival.
