Study Title:
International Early Lung Cancer Action Project
Study Title:
I-ELCAP-Legacy Lung Screening and Smoking
Cessation Project
What is the purpose of this study?
The purpose of this study is to determine whether
a CT scan can detect lung cancer or other diseases in the early stages.
A CT scan can detect tiny spots on your lungs many years before the
spots can be seen on a chest x-ray. Early detection is our best hope for
effective treatment and possible cure for lung cancer.
The Legacy Study also examines the impact of providing smoking cessation advice and counseling practices on smoking behavior and smoking related health beliefs in smokers seeking lung cancer screening
