Informational Sessions and Support Groups
To learn more about weight-loss surgery, to meet our bariatric surgeons
and to hear about weight-loss surgery from other patients, attend
an upcoming informational meeting or support group at the Holy Cross Hospital
Professional and Community Education Center:
- Surgical Weight Loss Informational
Meeting—Anyone
who is considering weight-loss surgery is invited to attend this
informational meeting. Hosted at the hospital on the second and
fourth Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. Hosted on the campus of
the Riderwood retirement community, and open to everyone, on the

- Surgical Weight
Loss Post-Op Support Group—A licensed clinical
social worker leads this support group for people who have had bariatric
surgery. Second and fourth Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.

- Laparoscopic
Adjustable Gastric Band Surgery Informational Meeting—This
informational session is for people who are considering weight-loss
through a laparoscopic adjustable gastric band. First and third
Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m.

Online Support Group
Holy Cross Hospital also offers online support groups
for patients who want to interact
with other patients outside of the scheduled support groups.
To join the Holy Cross Hospital Bariatric Program online support group
follow these simple steps:
- Step 1:
Go to: http://groups.yahoo.com
- Step 2:
On the left side of the screen, click on “New Users.” Fill
out the registration form. (If you are already a Yahoo User, just
sign-in and skip to step 3.)
- Remember your ID and password so you
can sign-on in the future.
- Step 3:
On the screen where it says “Joint a Group,” type “HolycrossWLS” into
the search box and click on “search.”
The Group Moderator will review your request and approve you for the group,
which may take a day. When you join the group, you will have options for
how you wish to receive messages. You can choose to receive messages regularly
via email, or you can return to the website to read messages at your convenience.
