Bariatric Surgery Program
A Recognized Center of Excellence
Holy Cross Hospital's Bariatric Surgery Program has achieved
accreditation from the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Bariatric Surgery
Center Network (BSCN) program. This designation recognizes the hospital's
Bariatric Surgery Program as a center of excellence for its demonstrated
commitment to providing the highest quality care.
Holy Cross Hospital surgeons
perform more weight-loss surgical procedures than any other hospital
in Montgomery or Prince George's counties, and clinical evidence shows
the most experienced and best-run bariatric surgery programs have by far
the best outcomes.
About American College of Surgeons (ACS) Accreditation
The ACS BSCN Accreditation Program provides confirmation that a bariatric
surgery center has demonstrated its commitment to providing the highest
quality care for its bariatric surgery patients.
Accredited bariatric
surgery centers provide not only the hospital resources necessary
for optimal care of morbidly obese patients, but also the support
and resources that are necessary to address the entire spectrum of
care and needs of bariatric patients, from the pre-hospital phase through
the postoperative care and treatment process.
Holy Cross Hospital’s program provides comprehensive support and
education before, during and after surgery, including support groups and
exercise programs.
Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
The
Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has recognized Holy
Cross Hospital and allows expanded Medicare coverage of bariatric
surgery for beneficiaries of all ages who have been diagnosed with other
health problems associated with obesity. Medicare coverage has been limited
to procedures performed in certified facilities.
