Promoting Communication, Quality, and Peace of Mind
We designed our Seniors Surgery Center with the unique needs of older adults in mind. A dedicated private space, quiet atmosphere, streamlined access to services and close communication among physicians, patients and families caring for seniors are the hallmarks of our patient-centered practice.
Ours is the only surgical center in Maryland specializing in senior health care services. We’ve brought together a team of experts in geriatric surgery and geriatric nursing care, who work side-by-side with anesthesiologists, pharmacists and geriatric social workers—all focused on caring for seniors who need surgery.
Whether you require an outpatient procedure or inpatient surgery, our goal is to provide top quality care every step of the way. We’ve made your physical, emotional and spiritual needs our priority through simplified hospital admissions, specialized anesthesiology, and a “no rush” post-operative recovery.
- Before surgery, a nurse will call you at home to review any chronic health conditions and medications, explain what to expect the day of surgery, and begin to create a recovery plan. You – or a loved one – can even pre-register online.
- During your procedure, we take special precautions to protect delicate skin and fragile joints and bones. We carefully monitor anesthesia and medications to ensure safety and comfort. We circulate heated air through your gown to keep you warm and use gel packs to cushion your body. And if you need them, all the experienced clinicians—and the state-of-the-art equipment—of Holy Cross Hospital are just steps away.
- After your procedure, to help ensure your post-operative recovery, we give you extra time to recuperate in a peaceful environment. Our geriatric nurses will explain your discharge instructions and help you make a seamless return home or to another care setting. Once you’ve left the hospital, a nurse will call to make sure your needs are being met.
