In-Home Support Services: Fostering Seniors’ Independence
Often seniors who are recovering from surgery or a major illness, managing an on-going disability or ensuring comfort and dignity at the end of life discover that they cannot do everything themselves. Even dressing, bathing or preparing a meal can be impossible without some assistance.
Through Holy Cross Private Home Services, Corp., a licensed, residential-services agency, we provide assistance with the personal needs of the elderly in the comfort of their homes, 24-hours a day, seven days a week at a minimum of four hours of service at a time. We work with you to create a schedule that meets your needs.
The agency is a critical part of our geriatric home care program that provides the aging-in-place services to promote seniors’ independence. Each of our certified nursing assistants (CNAs) are supervised by a registered nurse. They have extensive training in home care support to meet the needs of the elderly, including nutrition, CPR, disease management, infection control and household safety.
At the time of hire, each CNA must successfully complete a healthscreen, a criminal background check and satisfactory reference checks. Each CAN also completes a minimum of 12 hours in-service training annually.
CNAs can provide you or your loved one with a variety of aging-adult services for the homebound, including:
- Bathing assistance and help with personal hygiene, dressing and walking
- Changing bed linens, light housekeeping and laundry
- Running errands and grocery shopping
- Meal preparation and feeding
- Medication reminders and blood drawing
We can also provide transportation services staffed by CNA escorts for patients who need help getting to and from a procedure, outpatient surgery or scheduled testing. And we can arrange for one of our CNAs to provide one-on-one care at the bedside if you are an inpatient at Holy Cross Hospital.
Holy Cross Private Home Services is a licensed Residential Service Agency by The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Office of healthcare Quality. License number R985.
