Often patients who are recovering from major illnesses, surgery or childbirth discover they cannot do everything for themselves. The once simple act of bathing or preparing a meal can turn into a difficult challenge during recovery.

Holy Cross Hospital offers services designed to help people as they recover. Holy Cross Private Home Services, Corp., a licensed, residential-services agency, provides personal-care services to patients in the comfort of their homes.

People who remain in their homes achieve a greater sense of independence and security while improving the quality of their lives.
Private Home Services aides can provide assistance with personal and custodial care, personal hygiene, bathing, dressing, changing bed linens, light housekeeping, laundry, running errands, grocery shopping, meal preparation, feeding, walking, medication reminders, blood drawing (phlebotomy), companionship (sitters), care management (registered nurses and licensed practical nurses), new motherhood (doulas).

All of our home health aides are state-certified and supervised by a registered nurse. In addition, our aides have extensive training in nutrition, CPR disease management, infection control and household safety.

Specialized Services Tailored for You
Everyone has different needs. Our goal is to help those we serve remain as independent as possible while achieving a maximum level of wellness. With the terminally ill, we strive to ensure comfort and dignity during the final stages of illness.

Holy Cross Private Home Services provides services 24 hours a day, seven days a week at a minimum of three hours of service at a time. We work with your schedule to meet your needs.

Services for New Mothers
Once you are home, settling in with a new baby can be a joy and a challenge. There are so many things to do and so little time to do them - especially if you have other children. Private Home Services offers a wide range of assistance to help you and your new family.

• A registered nurse can help you identify the needs of you and your new baby, create a care plan with you and assign an appropriate home care aide.
• Our postpartum doula program may be right for you. A postpartum doula is a caregiver that specializes in providing general support to mother and baby during the immediate postpartum period. Doulas teach baby basics, newborn care, breastfeeding and help with postpartum issues. They also assist with home chores, meal preparation and errands.

Private Home Services Fees
Private Home Services are privately paid; the services are not covered by most insurance plans. Fees vary with the type of service required.
