To learn more about weight-loss surgery, to meet our bariatric surgeons and to hear about weight-loss surgery from other patients, attend an upcoming informational meeting or support group at the Holy Cross Hospital Professional and Community Education Center:
- Surgical Weight Loss Informational Meeting
Anyone who is considering weight-loss surgery is invited to attend this informational meeting. This session will answer your questions about surgical weight loss options. The sessions are hosted at the hospital at 6 p.m. The meeting dates for 2011 are: January 10, January 26, February 14, February 23, March 14, March 23, April 11, April 27, May 9, May 25, June 13, June 22, July 11, July 27, August 8, August 24, September 12, September 28, October 10, October 26, November 14, December 12 and December 28. - Surgical Weight Loss Post-Op Support Group
A licensed clinical social worker leads this support group for people who have had bariatric surgery. No registration is necessary. For more information, call 301-754-7878.
Online Support Group
Holy Cross Hospital also offers online support groups for patients who want to interact with other patients outside of the scheduled support groups.
To join the Holy Cross Hospital Bariatric Program online support group follow these simple steps:
- Step 1:
Go to: http://groups.yahoo.com
- Step 2:
On the left side of the screen, click on "New Users." Fill out the registration form. (If you are already a Yahoo User, just sign-in and skip to step 3.)
Remember your ID and password so you can sign-on in the future.
- Step 3:
On the screen where it says "Join a Group," type "HolycrossWLS" into the search box and click on "search."
The Group Moderator will review your request and approve you for the group, which may take a day. When you join the group, you will have options for how you wish to receive messages. You can choose to receive messages regularly via email, or you can return to the website to read messages at your convenience.
