With the opening of the new South Building, Holy Cross Hospital joins Holy Cross Germantown Hospital as the only area hospitals to offer private rooms to all patients.
The modernized space is also helping the hospital strengthen its pioneering senior care. A designated space for older adults has been included in the renovated surgery department.
The environmentally friendly addition houses an all new central utility plant to provide efficient heating, cooling and emergency power for the whole hospital. The "green" design meets all the latest standards for sustainability and is Leadership in Energy and Environmental (LEED) Gold certified.
An additional 42,000 square feet of the existing facility's critical care and surgery areas were also expanded and renovated, and parking at the hospital has been increased by 300 spaces for the convenience of patients, visitors, physicians and employees.
