Sand Castles
by Sister Dorothy Anne Cahill, CSC

We are workers in sand,
Always and ever
The waves beat
Curling and teasing Around our feet.

It is the building though
Which matters most;
We know
That works will end,
Suns set
And then we go
Where other dreams
Lie unfulfilled
And other needs
Await our hands;
Life's challenges
Stretch without end
For workers in the sand.

About the Harvest Ball
Holy Cross Health's 50th Annual Harvest Ball will celebrate the October 1 opening of Holy Cross Germantown Hospital, the first new hospital in Montgomery County in 35 years, along with the continuing transformation and expansion of Holy Cross Hospital, including the opening of a new patient care building next fall. And, we'll celebrate Holy Cross Health's commitment to improving the health of the diverse populations and communities we serve, through the work of Holy Cross Health Network's three primary care Holy Cross Health Centers and other programs empowering community members to manage and improve their own health.

The Harvest Ball celebration is a grateful acknowledgement of what Holy Cross Health, its partner organizations and its community supporters have been able to accomplish. It is also one of our major events in which we ask our community members to renew and increase their support to our major physical and programmatic expansions by becoming an event sponsor.

This special evening will feature entertainment from the Right On Band, a live auction and a giving tree. Harvest Ball attire is black tie optional and complimentary valet and self parking will be available. Guests will receive a special room rate of $109 for the night of Saturday, October 18 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. Please reference Holy Cross Health/Harvest Ball when reserving your room.

Sponsorship Opportunities
In celebration of our 50th Harvest Ball, this year you have the opportunity to direct a portion of your sponsorship to one of three areas below, along with a unique naming rights opportunity for many of our sponsorship packages.

Expansion Projects: Our projects at Holy Cross Hospital and Holy Cross Germantown Hospital will improve access to health care, bring hospital services to an area with hundreds of thousands of Marylanders, enhance privacy and safety, and train the future generation of nurses and other health care workers.

Maternity Services: Our comprehensive maternity services at Holy Cross Germantown Hospital include a maternity center staffed by a team of highly skilled specialists in women and infant care. Built with the most current designs and latest equipment, our maternity care and private suites will make our patients' experiences as safe and comfortable as they are memorable.

Surgical care: Surgical care will be available at Holy Cross Germantown Hospital across a broad range of specialties. Surgical services will feature a pre-surgery testing department, pre- and post-operative area and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The service includes full-service operating rooms, as well as procedure rooms for endoscopy and interventional radiology. Surgical inpatients will have all private rooms, which will enhance patient safety, patient satisfaction and family and visitor comfort.
