GATE Institute for Minimally Invasive Surgery Training

Holy Cross Hospital houses the GATE Institute, a specialized training center for physicians who perform minimally invasive procedures.

The GATE Institute's nationally recognized faculty members combine hands-on surgical training with telemedicine and videoconferencing to bring the benefits of minimally invasive surgery to physicians and their patients across the nation. GATE Institute programs offer participants the opportunity to gain expertise in the latest instrumentation and equipment in areas such as OB/GYN, orthopedics, neuroscience and general surgery.

Since its inception more than 20 years ago, the GATE Institute has trained thousands of physicians and other medical professionals from hospitals all over the country.

Overview:
A world-class faculty will provide a stimulating review of the latest trends in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, robotic surgery, hysteroscopy and gynecologic oncology. Practical didactic lectures will be liberally supported with video demonstrations, and a live interactive robotic surgery will be performed. This program will deliver relevant information to the practicing gynecologist regarding indications, techniques, efficiency and effectiveness of these minimally invasive surgical procedures. Industry partners will provide interactive exhibits for attendees to explore cutting-edge materials and technologies.

This program is intended for all health care providers involved with gynecology, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and women’s health. Gynecologists, gynecologic oncologists, and urogynecologists in practice and in training (residents and fellows) as well as physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses and technicians involved in gynecologic surgery are welcome.

Conference Fees and Registration:
Advance registration by May 14 is recommended. Limited on-site registration will be available. Fees include breakfast, lunch and reception.

Holy Cross Hospital is easily accessible by car, train, air or public transportation.

The hospital is located in Silver Spring, Md., just north of Washington, D.C. at the Capital Beltway.

The hospital is within 30 minutes of three airports: Reagan National Airport (DCA), Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI)

The hospital also is accessible by Amtrak via the Metro regional subway system. We are located just five short blocks from the Forest Glen (Red Line) Metro station.
