HC Connect Physician Portal
Holy Cross Hospital provides easy-to-install Virtual Private Network (VPN) software for physicians who want to use the portal in their private offices and homes. The hospital’s data support center is available to assist you in installing the software.
HC Connect Physician Portal
HC Connect is an Internet-based system that enables Holy Cross Hospital physicians to access patient information from multiple hospital data systems via a single log-on to a web interface. Information on the site can be accessed 24 hours a day, seven days a week from any hospital workstation, or remotely from your office or home computer (computers must have secure Internet connections).
To access HC Connect, physicians simply click on an icon that immediately connects to the portal. With just one user ID and one password, you can connect to a screen with a complete listing of your patients. Use your mouse to navigate through patients’ clinical and demographic data. At the same time, information viewed through the portal – such as patient facesheets – can be printed at nursing stations or remote locations.
HC Connect Links Physicians to:
- Admissions: demographics, contact information, guarantor, insurance, face sheets
- Diagnosis: orders, pharmacy, procedures
- Results reporting: laboratory, radiology, pathology
- Results reporting: EKG and waveforms
- Transcription: H&Ps, operative reports, consults, spirometries, transfer summaries, discharge summaries, cath lab, EEG, treadmill stress, signal averaging, echocardiograms
- Nursing documentation: vitals, fluid summaries (I/O), lines/ports
- Rounding reports: clinical information such as basic patient demographics and location, bedside glucose, lab data (last 48 hours, highs, lows, panics) vitals, I/Os
- PACS: online radiographic images
- Electronic signature: Editing and electronic signature for transcripts

System Requirements
To access HC Connect securely, PCs that are not part of the Holy Cross
Hospital network must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 - Service Pack 2
- Adobe Acrobat v5
- Windows 95 - OSR2 or above
- Pentium 166Mz
- 64Mb RAM
- An account with an internet service provider
Training
Holy Cross Hospital provides training for physicians, including:
- ID assignment
- password creation
- demonstration of the portal’s key features
- information regarding remote access to the portal
- information regarding access for physician’s office staff
Security is Our Top Concern
HC Connect utilizes a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to guarantee the
security of patient data. Physicians use identity-specific user IDs
and passwords to access HC Connect, and the system tracks each item
of data viewed via the portal. Office staff in physician offices can
also use HC Connect, although their IDs do not allow access to information
restricted to physicians only.
