New Hospital in Germantown

Holy Cross Hospital is expanding to meet the growing needs of our community.

Holy Cross Hospital is establishing a new hospital in Germantown, Maryland, that will bring much-needed health care services to the most rapidly growing and aging region in Montgomery County.

In June 2011, the Maryland Board of Public Works - which includes the governor, the comptroller, and treasurer - voted unanimously to approve the land lease with Montgomery College to establish a new hospital on the Germantown campus.

On Dec. 8, 2011, a groundbreaking ceremony was held on the Germantown campus of Montgomery College to mark the beginning of construction for the new hospital. This will be the first hospital in the nation on a college campus with an educational partnership aimed to train more nurses and health care workers. More than 300 people witnessed the groundbreaking ceremony and honored guests included Maryland Senate President Thomas V. “Mike” Miller and other representatives of state and local government.

The new hospital facility is slated to open in 2014.
