Being a caregiver of aging adults or ill loved ones is an overwhelming and weighty responsibility. As caregivers ourselves, we at Holy Cross Hospital recognize the importance of your role and the need for support and education. Listed below are some of the classes, programs and support groups we offer specifically for caregivers in our community.
Caregiver: Adult Child of Aging Parent Every Monday and Thursday, adult children of aging parents are invited to meet to share challenges, solutions, and advice about caring for their parents. View schedule and registration information.
Caregiver: Ill or Aging Spouses Free weekly support groups are provided for caregivers of ill and/or aging spouses. View schedule and registration information.
Caregiver: Support for Families of Cancer Patients A diagnosis of cancer affects not only the cancer patient, but the family as well. A cancer diagnosis may impact the family's financial, social and emotional wellbeing. The Holy Cross Hospital Cancer Institute has a social worker who is available to family caregivers to provide support, direction and information and referral services-at no cost. Caregiver: Support for Children of Cancer Patients When a parent has been diagnosed with cancer, sometimes the most worrying questions are "How do I tell my children? What do I tell them?" CPR & AED Training Holy Cross offers CPR and Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training for caregivers of individuals of all ages. Please see CPR & Life Support Classes.
First Aid Ideal for caregivers, lifeguards or childcare providers, this three-and-a-half-hour class covers basic First Aid techniques and includes hands-on practice. Participants will receive a card from the American Heart Association. View schedule and registration information.
Parkinson's Caregiver Support Group Support group for spouses, family members, and/or care partners of individuals who have been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. View schedule and registration information.
