Nursing Students
Partnerships with Nursing Schools
In addition to our eight-week Summer Nursing Student Extern program,
we partner with several nursing schools to provide clinical experiences
for nursing students and those attending an RN Refresher Course.
If you are a student nurse and your school/university does not have a partnership with us, we can pursue the establishment of such a relationship. For more information, contact the Office of Professional Practice at 301.754.7512.
21st Century Student Nurse Training with One-of-a-Kind
Patient Robot: Say “Hello” to SimMan®
He is the only patient of his type in Montgomery
County, and he is right here at Holy Cross Hospital. He enables student
nurses who join us to experience the most realistic hands-on clinical
training currently available. His name is SimMan, a high-fidelity
computerized patient robot-mannequin that can simulate a wide range
of symptoms and conditions that closely mimic those of real patients.
You will experience this one-of-a-kind learning in an exclusive laboratory,
newly renovated to maximize clinical training with Sim Man. It’s all part of
our commitment to prepare you to excel in today’s high-tech health
care climate.
Nursing Grads
Internal Hospital Programs for Nursing Grads
As a teaching hospital, we are focused on providing
our staff with ongoing education and training. The following courses
are available twice a year within our hospital. These offerings are
designed to meet the needs of May and December grads as well as RNs
who seek new challenges and want to change specialties.
Orientation Programs
We offer comprehensive, competency-based orientation
programs for all disciplines. Each orientation lasts three to six months
and includes both didactic and experiential unit-based learning. For
medical/ surgical departments, orientation programs are scheduled as
needed throughout the year.
