What To Do When Labor Begins

Contact Your Physician
When your labor begins, notify your obstetrician.

Come to the Hospital Lobby
At both Holy Cross Hospital and Holy Cross Germantown Hospital, enter through the main lobby. Stop at the information desk to be directed from the lobby elevators to the third floor Labor and Delivery unit.

If you are delivering at Holy Cross Germantown Hospital, during some hours you may be directed to enter the hospital through the Emergency Department.

When you arrive in the unit, you will be greeted and taken into our triage area or directly to a labor and delivery room. Leave your suitcase in the trunk of your vehicle until you have delivered your baby and you and your baby have settled into a maternity suite. Pack a small separate bag for items you will need in labor, such as a camera and socks.

Parking
For current parking rates and instructions, visit HolyCrossHealth.org/Parking. At Holy Cross Hospital, patients and visitors who anticipate needing parking for an extended stay can purchase discounted parking passes from the cashier that are valid for seven days.

Private Maternity Suites
After the birth of your baby in a private labor, delivery and recovery room (LDR) , you and your baby will be taken to one of our private maternity suites to recover in a quiet and comfortable setting.

Throughout the process, we welcome the support of your friends and family. Learn more about maternity visitor guidelines.
