Bereavement Services Offer Comfort, Support and Grief Management
The Holy Cross Hospice Bereavement Center is a critical part of the hospital’s family support services, dedicated to helping individuals who have experienced the recent loss of a loved one. This important bereavement service focuses on people dealing with death by providing emotional and spiritual support and practical advice to help them better cope during this challenging time in their lives.
We’ve designed our groups to meet the needs of the bereaved who are coping with loss. Specialized grieving support is also available through groups targeting those who have suffered the loss of a spouse, parent, child, sibling or close friend.
We understand that every person grieves differently. Some people gain comfort for grieving from the help and support of family and friends. Others may gain comfort from their faith community. Many other people benefit from additional supports, such as the groups provided by Holy Cross Bereavement Center.
There is no right or wrong time to join a support group. While most of our participants join our groups sometime during the first year after a loss, anyone wishing to work on loss and grief issues is welcome, even if their loss is more distant in time.
This free, eight-week grief support program is held on Wednesdays, 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Holy Cross Resource Center, located one block from the hospital at 9805 Dameron Drive, Silver Spring.
