About Holy Cross Hospital
History
Since its founding in 1963 by the Congregation of the Sisters of the
Holy Cross, Holy Cross Hospital has been a leader in providing innovative
and quality health care.
Building on the foundational values of the Sisters of the Holy Cross
to respond to those needs of time and place, Holy Cross Hospital has adapted
to the increasingly diverse population who come to us for care.
Often Holy Cross Hospital has been the "first" hospital
in the area to offer sophisticated services and state-of-the-art technology,
including having the first MRI unit, neonatal intensive care unit,
infant hearing screening program and autologous bone marrow transplant
program.
Several years ago, Holy Cross Hospital was the first community hospital
in the area to offer laparoscopic surgery and is now continuing this tradition
by being a leader in comprehensive medical education and training in minimally
invasive surgery for physicians and other medical professionals.
Today, Holy Cross Hospital is one of the largest
hospitals in Maryland, caring for more than 157,000 patients each year.
