Holy Cross Hospital has been a leader in providing

The hospital has received numerous clinical designations,
accreditations and awards, and has been the first hospital in the area
to offer sophisticated services and state-of-the-art technology.

Stroke Center designation by The Joint Commission and the Maryland
Institute of Emergency Medical Services System (MIEMSS)

- Accredited by The Joint Commission, an independent health care accreditation
and certification organization
- Teaching Hospital Cancer Program
accreditation by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission
on Cancer, one of only six hospitals in Maryland to achieve this
designation
- Bariatric
Surgery Program accreditation by the American College of Surgeons
Bariatric Surgery Center Network
- Radiation Treatment Center
accreditation from the American College of Radiology, which is achieved
by only about 10 percent of radiation centers nationwide
Awards and Recognitions
- Workplace
Excellence Award from the Maryland Work-Life Alliance, the only hospital
in Maryland to receive this recognition every year since 1999
- Outstanding
Palliative Care Award from the Greater Washington Partnership for
Palliative and End-of-Life Care
- A National Council on Aging study concluded that participants of Senior Fit experienced measurable
improvement in upper and lower extremity strength as well as several
measures of self-efficacy. Senior Fit, an innovative exercise program
for adults ages 55 and older, was created by Holy Cross Hospital
and is offered through a partnership among Holy Cross Hospital, Kaiser
Permanente, Maryland National Capital Parks and Planning Commission,
Montgomery County Department of Recreation and local churches.
- MIDAS+ Platinum Quality Award from Affiliated Computer Service, Inc.,
which recognizes excellence in clinical health care. Award winners were
honored for their achievement in the areas of quality outcomes, care
efficiency and consistent delivery of evidence-based best practices
in nursing and medicine.

in November 2008
